The Yulong River (遇龙河) is a small tributary of the larger Li River in Southeastern Guangxi Region that runs through the major city of Guilin to Yangshuo. Unlike the busy Li River, it has no motorized boat traffic and relies completely on bamboo rafts to ferry passengers downriver. This has become a popular tourist activity, with passengers beginning their journey at the Yulong Bridge, a 400-year-old stone bridge.
We are two people and had a 4 days/3 nights guided tour in Guilin/Yangshuo after a personal 6 day stay in Suzhou. Our guide for the Guilin/Yangshuo tour, David Yang, was excellent - spoke English well, very friendly and helpful. Our driver was always readily available and efficient. The cruise on the Li River was the highlight and well worth the experience.

Rice noodles have been the local breakfast staple since the Qin dynasty and are renowned for their delicate taste. Legend has it that when Qin troops suffering from diarrhea entered this region, a cook created the Guilin rice noodles for the army because they had trouble eating the local food. Specifically, the local specialty is noodles with horse meat, but this dish can also be ordered without the horse meat.
